Our modest home on the hill, three houses away from Upper Emerald Lake in Emerald Hills, 12 minutes from Stanford.

Emerald Hills is an unincorporated district between Woodside and Redwood City, notably without any sidewalks.

Our double lot is native California landscaping, carefully tended by Tracey.

We love the view from our decks.

Bad Movie Night

Most of the historic dance manuals are in the downstairs library. My office is in the upstairs library.

Baldwin.JPG

I'm not giving a full house tour here, but when I lived in Cincinnati, I was happy to find the oldest surviving Baldwin 9-foot concert grand piano in the world, built in Cincinnati. It was actually the fourth concert grand that Baldwin built, hand-crafted for the purpose of entering into the competitions at the Paris and St. Louis World's Fairs (it won first place in both). Then the first three were dismantled to make patterns for production, leaving this one as the oldest survivor. I had it completely restored.

We don't have a very large back yard, but it's completely private in all directions, so we designed and built a redwood carpenter gothic hot tub solarium. I've started most of my mornings for the past decade relaxing here.
